On a Wednesday, In a Café...

Most would say a daily café run is a waste of money, but it’s the one thing standing between me and quitting my job to run off to the mountains. Basically, going to cafés and drinking overpriced coffee is the reason I still have any money. This is called smart investing, girls — finance bros could never ✨

So on a fine Wednesday afternoon (and every afternoon), I found myself sipping my “nutty” hazelnut latte with oat milk, people-watching in my favourite café. I was reminded of the last time I invited a guy friend to join me.

He asked, “What’s the point of sitting in a café after you get your coffee?”

Yikes. How boring it must be to be a boy.

So here I am, typing away, trying to encapsulate the magic of café life for my dear men — though I’m 100% sure anyone reading this is a woman.

Freshly Brewed Coffee Aroma

Picture this — you’re having the worst day at work. Your client just sent their 10th round of edits with feedback that’s basically, “make it better.” You want nothing more than to crawl under your blanket and ignore their emails the way you ignore spam calls from the bank. But you can’t.

Now imagine walking into a café. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee hits you. There’s happy chatter, soft clinking of cups, maybe even a playlist that makes you forget your inbox for a moment. Tell me your mood and patience levels wouldn’t skyrocket instantly.

And it’s not just me being dramatic — research shows that coffee aroma sharpens alertness, boosts problem-solving, and even lifts your mood. Basically, it’s free therapy with caffeine.

Inspiring Dreams, one sip at a time ✨

I love people-watching in cafés — not just for the gossip, but because they’re filled with hustlers. Look around and I bet you’ll see people working, taking calls, having coffee catch-ups — the atmosphere is electric with dreams and energy.

I don’t know what it is, but I DREAM about working in a café as a hustling entrepreneur — too broke for an office, but making enough for her fancy cup of the day, every day. You can’t get this “first day of the year” motivation all year round anywhere else.

Low Commitment Hang

Coffee shops are the perfect setup to meet new people — or people you’re unsure about. As an introvert, brunch/lunch/dinner feels like too much. It’s an honour, currently only available to my dog.

Coffee is different.
Awkward? Finish your drink and leave.
Having a great time? Sit for 5 hours — no one’s judging.

Also… coffee and café food. Obviously. No further explanation — please bring me my almond croissant. 🥐

So no, cafés aren’t a waste of money.

They’re therapy, motivation, and sometimes the only ray of light on a gloomy day ☕✨
